JOGI GUNDI- Waterfalls
At a distance of 4 km from Agumbe Bus Station, Jogi Gundi Falls is a stunning waterfall situated close to the road between Agumbe & Barkana Falls. Located inside Agumbe's rainforest, it is one of the best waterfalls in Karnataka and among the must-visit places as part of the Agumbe Tour Packages.
This place is completely a new world. First,to start the journey we need to hire a jeep or get one ourselves to go to the waterfalls. Since we were not from package tour we had to hire a jeep for about 6 people to visit this place. At first we thought that this could be a regular route with some bumpy regions but, as we move forward the path was narrowing and the route turned to be even more rocky and was impossible even for an SUV to go on it . We were fortunate that we hired a jeep because the trail could really be a risky job for a normal driver instead we need a professional for it.We all were more excited to see the track we are going instead of the waterfalls because that was real challenge. I even remember where the jeep had to cross over a very big step like cavity and literally the jeep had to bend 45 degree, that was really a tough path. At one place the road was under renovation,So we had to go through the forest to reach the other side of the road. Well it was really a good experience.
After half an hour or so we finally reached the waterfalls, there the place was fascinating,We entered the jungle in broad daylight but as we were moving inside the place was turning darker because of tall trees and dense bushes. We made our way to the entrance. A guy with a classic Bajaj Platina bike and a small STD phone kind of ticket booth was standing there to recieve us. The ticket there was 20/- there was no crowd or people, there was just the silence of the forest and weard sounds far away from us. From that point we had to travel by foot to see the waterfalls. Broken trees, and branches ,a mud road leading to the waterfalls,a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. At that point of time all I could think was "Is the world this beautiful ? Me staying in a busy world where work and tension has become a part of my life " are there many things left to see in beautiful world ? " " am i missing a lot of fun?" , these were the questions arising in my mind and heart !!. Well coming back to the trip, we had to travel a kilometer or so on plain land then had to take steps downwards to see the waterfalls.Well I don't know the exact number of steps, But could compare them with temple run mobile game where we enter into a jungle right ? same situation.
